Overview

Wellington watering hole Meow has been running in the CBD for seven years now; you only have to look at the unfortunate pattern of recent bar closures to realise that it’s one hell of an impressive feat.

In between operating as a cafe by day and a bar by night, the establishment is one of the most popular destinations for local touring musicians in Wellington. To mark their seventh year in the hospo biz, they're roping in a handful of acts to take the stage.

Making their way down from Auckland for the shindig will be progressive, hip hop four-piece Yoko-Zuna. Named after the highest rank of sumo wrestler, the group promise dynamic, spine-busting live shows and a massive musical energy. Their instrumental style is melting pot of genres and cultures, with members heritage spanning Samoa, Bangladesh, Korea and Japan. They regularly call upon guest MCs to fill in the gaps.

In this instance they will be supported by stoner-country band So Laid Back Country China, ambient-psychedelic six-piece Moses, DJ B.Lo and local legend Leo G. Clark.
