Overview

Imagine, bikes: swirling around in the air as if gravity was nothing but a concept, you: sitting in the crowd, mouth agape. The smell of gasoline perfuming the air.

Like a circus, but with petrol-fuelled bikes involved, Nitro Circus is an adrenalin-charged live action sports show which features forty of the world's biggest FMX, BMX and skate talents - including Kiwis Levi Sherwood, Nick Franklin and Jed Mildon. Other riders include the original Nitro crew Jolene, Dusty Wygle, Erik Roner, plus Adam Jones, Wheelz and Jackson Strong - among many others.

This year's theme is a 'retro' Circus, with performances styles to a 1920's theme, as a Barnum & Bailey-type circus. Barnum & Bailey was an American circus show which billed itself as 'The Greatest Show on Earth'. With performances like the synchronized Quad bike and snowmobile riding, the four-person back flip, the ‘launch and splat’ as well as many a 'never-seen-before' contraptions jumping off the jacked-up 60 foot Nitro Gigant-A-Ramp, Nitro Circus a throwing a lot of muscle behind trying to attain the laurels of their inspiration.

Whether it is the greatest show on earth remains to be seen, but it should be a fun night regardless.
