Get your lederhosen and dirndl ready — Wellington's biggest Oktoberfest event is returning for 2018.

Waterfront food hall and bier haus Munchen will host this year's Oktoberfest with a program packed to the brim with food, entertainment, and of course, beer. They'll be serving an array of German drinks, from Hofbrau to Jagermeister, with plenty of German grub (think bratwurst and pretzels) to keep you going.

If you're more of a craft beer type, the Fortune Favours Ambeerlance will have you covered with samplings of the best local fare, while the Henkel sparkling wine bar will be on hand if you're after a slightly fancier tipple.

It's not all food and drink though — there are prizes for the best dressed, and if you reckon your biceps are up for the challenge, why not have a go at the stein holding competition? You'll also want to stay around for the showpiece of the program, the Bavarian Showdown, where some of New Zealand's top brass bands will go head to head.

Your $25 ticket includes a free drink to get you up and running. There are only 400 tickets available for each session, so be quick and nab one before they're out.
