Overview

Have your favourite pair of shoes climbed one too many Wellington hills and suffered through rain enough to last a lifetime?

For one night only Wellington's Shoe School is opening its doors to the public. Shoemaker and Shoe School godmother Louise Clifton invites shoe lovers, fashion makers, trendsetters and wannabe cobblers to explore the world of shoemaking in her Newtown workshop.

Having travelled around the world to learn the fine art of shoemaking from some of the best, Louise will introduce participants to the age-old art of shoemaking. She will explore with you some of the tools, the terms and the skills to make your dream shoe, plus she'll share a little bit of her own wisdom.

Shoes, tools, materials and swathes of coloured leather will be on display for you to discover. You can even begin to design your own shoe using a Shoe School design template.

Dreaming of a smart pair of brogues, summery sandals for your island trip away or a pair of badass flatforms? Head to Shoe School to realise that dream.
