Overview

Aro Valley-based brewery Garage Project, famed for its daring, collaborative and creative approach to beer, has done it again. Teaming up with adored Auckland Indian eatery, Satya, the taproom at 91 Aro Street is being transformed into a chai lounge for the weekend, slinging spicy fare alongside cooling pints.

Show me a better combo than curry and beer. I dare you.

Although many of the ticketed sessions for Satya Chai Lounge have sold out, there are still a few to be snapped up. For $90 a couple, you get a mean feed of Indian kai including dahi puri, manchurian dumplings, paneer, lamb kofta, and something called 'kurryaage', which I can only pray is a portmanteau of curry + karaage. The ticket price also includes a pint per person — fingers crossed there'll be some of the spice route-themed Silk Road beers, brewed for this year's GABS, on tap.

If you're not willing to commit to the whole sit-down affair, you can still wander up to the bar for the a la carte experience — no tickets necessary. Be quick though, as you've only got two days for this hot ticket event.
