Overview

Ever been at a loose end and thought to yourself "man, I wish there were free film screenings of subtitled movies from countries ranging from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela?"

Look no further. Te Papa is sampling a diverse fiesta of modern Latin American and Spanish cinema for an entire fortnight. From gritty thrillers, tales of friends who love rock and roll, gentle dramas, Oscar-nominated documentaries, and a Chilean film about the 1988 national referendum to dissuade the population from voting for dictator Augusto Pinochet; they're all here. If you're out and about one day and want to broaden your mind with some interesting art from some of Latin America and Spain's best directors, this is your festival. And no need to book! Brilliant.

Check the Te Papa website for full details of the festival schedule.
