Overview
The Big Bike Film Night is racing down to Wellington and onto our big screens once again. Films regarding bikes or cycling are screening February and March 2019. This is an event suitable for families, groups or even a cheeky date night if you're bike enthusiasts (or even if you're not.)
It all began back in Taupo, 2014 after a three-metre-high bike statue was left destroyed by vandals. However, from the destruction, there followed a glimmer of hope. Brett Cotter thought up an idea to fund the repairs of Taupo's big bike. The formation of The Big Bike Film Night was born.
What followed was a collection of giving people from the film community. Sponsors, filmmakers, film production companies, and the local bike community banded together to support Cotter's idea. The event has been cycling down the country since 2015 to bring Kiwis a taste of biking to the big screens.
The film lineup is a mystery until you arrive. The event doesn't reveal any of the films, which is part of the fun.
The Big Bike Film Night 'Feature Series' - One Day Ahead is on for two screenings in Wellington. The first screening (Wednesday, 27 February at 6pm) at Penthouse Cinema has already sold out. Tickets are still available for the second screening ay 8.30pm.
The Big Bike Film Night is hosting three screenings in Wellington on Monday, 11 March at 6pm, and Tuesday, 12 March at 6pm and 8.30pm. All screenings are at the beautiful Penthouse Cinema in Brooklyn.
Buckle up your helmets and zoom in quick, tickets are selling out faster than Lance Armstrong can cycle.
