Thorndon Fair 2018
The annual fair is hitting Tinakori Road and Hill Street for its 41st year.
Overview
December is bundled up with its classic connotations; the buzz of fast-approaching Christmas in the air, the zesty taste of summer fruits back in season, the delicious warmth of the sun as it dances on your (sun-blocked) skin. Another December delight arrives on the first Sunday of the month: Thorndon Fair. Sunday, 2 December will (hopefully) be whirling in some of that Wellington sunshine, that everyone there won't be able to help but declare, "you can't beat Welly on a good day."
At 10-3pm, Thorndon Fair will be echoing throughout Tinakori Road and Hill Street, with 250 stallholders and over 20,000 people expected to pop in during the day. Stalls, entertainment and delectable food will be dolloped along the street in historic Thorndon, making it a day for all demographics alike. The fair is run by Thorndon School, and is their annual fundraiser, with gold coin donations accepted at the gates.
The Thorndon Fair is an historic event, and has been transpiring on the first Sunday of December since 1977. Take the day to relish in music and entertainment, find the ultimate gift to bestow under the Christmas tree and fill your plate with oodles of food, like a typical Wellingtonian.
