Overview

Book an immersive movement tour at Te Papa's Toi Art and you don't just get to appreciate the artwork. You get to be at one with it.

Follow — described by Te Papa as their first "intangible dance acquisition" — is the brainchild of former Wellington local Olive Bieringa, one of the masterminds behind global dance collective BodyCartography Project. Tailored specifically to interact with the works on display at Toi Art, the experience takes appreciation of art to immersive levels rarely seen before.

Relax as a dancer leads you one-on-one through the galleries, inspiring you to see, live and breathe each artwork. The aim of the project is to encourage you to use movement to explore art in new, left-field ways.

This definitely isn't a trip to the gallery to be rushed. Take your time and allow yourself to connect with the art and architecture around you. It's designed to be an intimate, immediate and personal experience like no other.

The tours are free, but bookings are highly recommended. The next tour is Saturday, 3 November, with the work running at Te Papa through March 2019. Tours run for 30 minutes between 11am and 4pm.
