Overview

The DIY, self publishing world of 'zines' covers everything from hand drawn foolscap pages to artfully folded and painstakingly crafted sheets hot off the Xerox. Subject wise, forget about it. Thriving in energetic outsider communities - from punk to feminism to queer issues to your passionate love for Daryl Dixon - if there's a thing that can be written, drawn, collaged or printed, ranted or raved about it's in a zine somewhere, somewhen.

Celebrating the glorious, unfettered anarchy of self publishing, The Wellington Zinefest returns with a fab programme of exhibits, workshops and talks about all things zine. For anyone bursting to share their thoughts with the world, spread rebellion or start a movement, zines are the ultimate tool. (They're also little handmade pieces of art, an open page on the creator's soul, that you get to keep.)

The fest takes in some of the best with a Light Box show featuring zines from the fest's archive and organisers personal collections. There's also a print workshop with Wai Te Ata press, a group zine making session and a mobile art print space that will wend its way round the capital.  And just like the art of self-publishing itself, most of the events in the fest are free.
