Calling all gin lovers: a brand-new bar dedicated to the spirit has flung open its doors. Gallery Lounge Bar can be found on the ground floor of QT Wellington, serving up gins sourced from New Zealand and all over the world.

QT Wellington has become known in the capital for the art that covers almost every inch of its walls, hence the name of the new bar. Here, patrons can sit back and relax with a cocktail or two as they admire the beauty of the art that surrounds the space.

There's sure to be something for every type of gin drinker on the Gallery Lounge Bar menu, which boasts build-your-own gin and tonics, plus a revolving list of cocktails with gin as the hero ingredients. Gin lovers will also have the opportunity to learn where and how their favourite tipple came to be, with QT Wellington hosting gin makers in the space every second month.

Little Biddy Gin is the first gin to be showcased in the new space, with the QT team and Little Biddy's mixologist Jason Clark whipping up three concoctions to highlight the gin's unique taste. The botanicals for this gin are sourced from the West Coast of New Zealand, where the team forages for native leaves, berries and flowers to infuse into the spirit.

Among Little Biddy's cocktail offering, the rose gold martini embraces QT Wellington's opulence, as made with rose gold gin, vermouth, rose elixir, petals and gold leaf. If you love a strong gin taste, the Black Pearled Negroni may tickle your tastebuds, consisting of black gin, vermouth, Suze, orange bitters, crushed pearl and charcoal. Also on offer: the Ponamu Honey, with classic, riesling honey, champagne acid and rainforest bitters.

Jodi Brown, General Manager of QT Wellington, said the team was "delighted" to introduce the bar to the Wellington food and drink scene. "In our vibrant, creative city and hotel brimming with art, this new opening feels right at home in our iconic space," she said.

"True to the collaborative spirit of the capital, we can't wait to share the Gallery Lounge with guest distillers who are passionate about the art of their craft."

Find QT Wellington's Gallery Lounge Bar on the hotel's ground floor at 90 Cable Street, Wellington — open seven days from 12pm–late.
