As soon as you learn that Arthur’s on Cuba is owned by the same people who set up Martha’s Pantry, the rhyming names seem kinda cute. And the cute doesn’t stop there.

Located at the top end of Cuba Street, Arthur’s occupies an old, two-storey Edwardian building filled with a collection of knick-knacks that ten grandmas combined would struggle to beat. Depending on the day, you’ve got the option of sitting downstairs, in the back courtyard or taking the narrow, steep staircase to the two rooms upstairs. None of the floors are straight and you’ll be hard pushed to find a matching fork in the whole joint, but that’s part of the charm.

Breakfast at Arthur’s is ace. Few places still have the famous Bubble and Squeak on the menu, but these guys do and they do it well too.

Popping in for dinner is also a guaranteed good time. Their bistro style menu delivers on taste and a really reasonable price, with the cuisine seeming to be good old-fashioned, hearty meals. Plus the staff are always down for a chat, which makes the whole experience fun, chilled and memorable.
