Overview

Curry and pizza; it's an unlikely combination of flavour and cuisine that somehow just works. Currizza is new to the Wellington food scene and has already made a name for itself at 43 Rugby Street, opposite the Basin Reserve. With an unusual combination of Indian and Italian cuisine, the team at Currizza serves up some of the most original and outrageous pizzas you've ever tasted.

With a love of all things food and flavour, Harsh Patel arrived in Wellington in 2009 to study Hospitality Management. He soon became restless to make his own mark on Wellington's eclectic food scene and followed his urge to create something bold and different. After partnering up with a well-known Indian restaurant in 2014, the idea for Currizza was officially born. The philosophy behind this new and unexpected combination of food was that, "Pizza and happiness must go hand in hand, making your experience special."

With a range of different pizzas, sides, drinks and desserts on the Currizza menu, there's a little something for everyone. Making sure to cater to everyone's dietary requirements, vegetarian, nut-free and dairy-free pizzas are available on the menu. For a classic vege pizza, try the Popeye Lover, topped with a spinach curry base, onion, tomato, garlic, carrot, beans, paneer, mozzarella and tomato pizza sauce. For a meat lovers option, the Beef & Onion consists of a delicious onion masala sauce, mozzarella, ground beef and onions. Currizza's menu is full of fresh and spicy flavours to excite your tastebuds, with combinations such as jalapeno, peri-peri sauce, mango curry base, pineapple and black olives. Or, keep it simple with classic flavours such as margherita, Hawaiian and pepperoni available too.

With a large and exotic pizza menu, Curriza also offers a plethora of tasty snacks to go alongside your pizza. With sides such as garlic bread, tandoori chicken bites, curly fries or even spicy peri-peri chicken up for grabs. Then finish it off by delving into their decadent dessert menu with gluten-free brownie, tiramisu slice and passionfruit peach cheesecake available.

Currizza is the first-ever curry pizza restaurant to hit the streets of Wellington, sparking a new love for this unexpectedly delicious mix of cuisine. Harsh and his dedicated team plan to expand their brand in the coming years. "Our vision is to establish our brand as a quality pizza supplier with an Indian twist. We want to see Currizza New Zealand-wide," says Patel. Pop into the branch in Mount Cook or get your fix of Currizza delivered straight to your door.
