Overview

If your homemade barbells aren't quite cutting it during the national lockdown or you're looking for something more rewarding than a stroll to burn off those quarantine snacks, Les Mills and TVNZ have got you covered. From Monday, 30 March the organisations will be broadcasting free-to-air group fitness classes.

Every Monday through Friday at 9am on TVNZ 1 and 3pm on TVNZ 2, the free group classes will offer a variety of exercise options, from high-intensity training to simple stretching and workouts for bored kids. The classes will also be available on TVNZ OnDemand to help you stay fit during the lockdown period.

Bodybalance is a yoga-based class which sees participants bend through a series of simple yoga poses and embrace elements of tai chi and Pilates; high-energy martial arts-inspired workout Bodycombat involves punching and kicking your way to fitness; and Bodyattack is a high-energy class combining athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. The Born to Move afternoon classes have been designed to help children experience the joy and vitality of moving to music.

Cate Slater, TVNZ Director of Content says, "Right now, the nation is under pressure with the COVID-19 pandemic threatening our health and wellbeing. The addition of Les Mills content to the TVNZ schedule will provide physical and mental support by way of free and easily accessible exercise options and plenty of motivation."

For those who want more, Les Mills is offering a 14-day free trial of its On Demand service, featuring over 800 workouts for all fitness levels.

Les Mills' group fitness classes will screen on TVNZ 1 at 9am and TVNZ 2 at 3pm every Monday to Friday, and online at TVNZ OnDemand.
