Late Night Art
Daylight savings and Late Night Art, the ideal duo for an evening stroll.
Overview
For one night only, Auckland's galleries open their doors for an evening of Late Night Art. The Art Week event involves three hours of opportune art viewing time in a host of galleries and venues around the inner city and central suburbs. Perfectly timed with daylight savings and the mild (ish) spring weather.
Wander from the top of town to the bottom (or vice versa if you need a workout) and check out exhibitions at the many participating galleries along the way. If you're smart you'll find your way to the back of St James for the Art of Dining pop-up street food market. Munch away while you admire Love Your City: The Exhibition then chill on the steps live tunes from bFM DJs or check out what’s screening at the Film Archive’s Viewfinder gallery. Speaking of which, the ‘1000 Lovers’ film installation by Burnett Rose will be screening in the Britomart Transport Centre with an accompanying acoustic performance.
There are walking and cycling tours available for those who like structure in their lives and for the wayward wanders there's a handy map in the Art Week programme which has all the details.
