Overview

If there's one thing we can give our fellow Aussies credit for, it's the creation of Holey Moley — a quirky and outrageously fun mini-golf course that's just landed on our shores.

Bringing a much-needed unorthodox element to the Viaduct Harbour, the 27 pop culture-themed holes are the perfect after work meander, first date icebreaker, or girls'/lads' night on the town.

On arrival, you'll be greeted by enthusiastic doormen and women, who as you'd expect, are dressed appropriately (think: patterned pants, lime green polos and fluorescent visors). They'll be quick to point out the bar, the balls, the clubs, and other necessities. It's a bit of 'sensory overload', but hang tight, you'll get your head around the chaos soon enough.

Of course, it wouldn't be right to tee-off without one of their drink specialties, which are as wacky as the place itself. If you've got a sweet tooth, jump straight to the Caddy Classics — we're talking Barcadi, lemon juice, coconut, elderflower liqueur and more. Or, if you're behind the wheel, the Driving Range offer a number of non-alcoholic alternatives — there's Sherbet the Frog, Lil Miss Fruity and MinTee Fresh (just to name a few).

The food doesn't disappoint, either. If you're a self-confessed carnivore, or carb lover, your options are second to none. Burgers like the Dirty Birdie and Holey Cheezus are exactly as their names suggest — with ingredients like Korean fried chicken, bacon, slaw, guacamole, chill mayo and cheese sauce. If you need to meet your five-plus-a-day quota, The Mean and Green section makes vegetables sound somewhat sensual, with the likes of the cheese vego wiener, garden patty, crispy hash nuggets, Danish feta and American ranch dressing. Need we say more.

Now back to the mini-golf, which I'm assuming you're here for. Layered over two floors, the 27 themed holes are suitable for putters of all abilities. But as you climb the ranks, you'll notice that more skill and attention to detail is required — six is the maximum number of putts allowed for one hole, so if you still haven't already nailed it, chances are mini-golf isn't your strong suit, or maybe you've knocked back one to many Sugar Caddys. Either way, Holey Moley won't judge.

And that's that. Whether you've got a swing like Mr Woods, or are an absolute rookie, this new kid on the block is a casual, delicious and slightly bonkers way to go golfing. Spread the word.
