Overview

Set in the historic Victoria Park Market in a space reminiscent of a New York style warehouse, resides La Zeppa. Exposed brickwork and bare wood drip with candlelight, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The division of space into restaurant and bar mean it feels cosy despite its size. Sitting outside on the deck is a good option on a clear evening or a sunny Sunday afternoon.

When it comes to the menu, La Zeppa's tapas are not tapas in the traditional sense. The word is used more as a general description of small dishes to share. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't make them any less tasty. There are some dishes which are reminiscent of Spanish favourites – the meatballs, crispy potatoes and beef skewers, but more contemporary versions. We tried both, plus the arancini (risotto balls) and pork ribs. They did not disappoint.

The tapas and late night menu are inspired by cuisine from all over the world, featuring dishes like raw fish and coconut, aromatic duck with sticky rice and mozzarella salad. There really is all sorts to choose from and the good news is you can even take your fussy friends because the good folk at La Zeppa have kindly provided a special allergy menu for those with particular dietary requirements.

As for drinks, you're spoilt for choice with a wide range of both local and imported wines and beers, as well as a cocktail list with enticing house creations. Whether a party of two or a big group, go when you're in the mood for a drink or two. Once the DJ gets going, it's an easy transition from restaurant to dance floor.
