Overview

"Within a community we perceive that we are by ourselves. The essence of architecture is to open the hearts of the people and to move them in such a way that they are glad to be on earth." Tadao Ando, Japanese architect.

The third annual Architecture and Design Film Festival is screening in Auckland's Rialto Cinema come Thursday May 8 until Sunday May 18, and in Wellington's Embassy Theatre from Thursday May 29 until Saturday June 8.

The festival, which is one of the largest of its kind, will screen documentary films exploring sustainability, ingenuity and the architectural feats of the likes of architectural masters Frank Lloyd Wright, Tadoa Ando, Eugene Tssui and Richard Neutra.
