Overview

Who said that potato chips can't be part of a fine-dining experience? Renowned New Zealand chef Peter Gordon has made a name for himself in the art of fusion cooking, and now he's fusing two things that may have never been fused before: a three-course meal and the humble potato chip, using Delisio's new Restaurant Series range.

Gordon's three-course Delisio Degustation is available for foodies and chip lovers to experience for just two nights only, on Wednesday, October 18 and Wednesday, October 25, costing $56. The chip-laden experience will be hosted at Homeland, Gordon's cooking school and restaurant.

What can diners expect at Delisio Degustation, and how will chips be making an appearance? For the entrée, guests will be served a salmon and trevally sashimi, using the brand's yakitori chicken and shallots chips as a vessel to scoop up the fresh fish. That course also comes with a Citizen beer.

Next, diners will indulge in a spiced venison ragout doughnut, served with capers, jalapeño mayonnaise and mushroom truffle pâté, plus grilled jalapeño popper-flavoured chips on top — and Waiheke Island's Man O'War Island blend.

For dessert, Gordon is whipping up a vanilla parmesan sponge with roast apple puree and maple bacon ice cream. Delisio's triple cheese souffle chips will be folded into the sponge, and also sprinkled over the dessert. Keeping with the cheesy theme, the dish will be paired with an apple brandy, parmesan and cider cocktail.
