Infinite Space

Dancing ballet's heritage into the modern day.

Overview

If you have never been to the ballet before, then a performance by the Melbourne Ballet Company is good place to start. The dance company was established relatively recently, in 2007. It is young, but that doesn't stop it from producing breath-taking performances. The group of dancers boasts some very impressive international experience, having performed with some of the world's most respected companies in the world.

The works, choreographed by Simon Hoy (with Robert Kelly coming on board for In One Day) will explore themes of change, possibility and hope. Infinite Space is a prime example of classic, rigorous ballet technique combined with contemporary choreography, to produce a piece of work that carries the lineage of classic ballet and transforms it for the audiences of today. The dances are set to well-known, iconic pieces of music, such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Mozart's 27th Piano Concerto, giving us a chance to experience them in a completely new way. Infinite Space is gracing the stage of the Bruce Mason centre for two nightly only, so don't miss your chance to see this critically acclaimed group perform.
