Overview

The former lead singer and songwriter for San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys, Jello Biafra, is set to perform his What Would Jello Do speaking show in Auckland this weekend.

The show follows on from Biafra's YouTube series with the same title, providing a commentary of politics, democracy, conspiracy, cover ups and punk rock, among other things. He now tours with his acclaimed new band Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine.

Biafra actively supports numerous political causes as a member of the Green Party of the United States. In 2000, Jello ran for the party's Presedential nomination finishing second to Ralph Nader. As a staunch believer of a free society, Biafra utilises shock value and advocates direct action and pranksterism in the name of political causes. He is renowned for using absurdist media tactics in order to highlight issues of civil rights and social justice.

Jello's Auckland performance will be followed by Jello's Downunder Tour Wrap Party, upstairs at the Galatos lounge. This will feature Incredibly Strange Rockin Vinyl from the vaults of DJ Jello Biafra himself, as well as 95bFM's Troy Ferguson.
