Passionate Acts
Fast forwarding to all the juicy bits of Shakespeare.
Overview
Set in the idyllic surrounds of the historic Pah Homestead, this outdoor summer Shakespeare performance is history with a contemporary twist. Designed with the modern audience in mind, Passionate Acts is a collection of bite-sized scenes from Shakespeare’s most popular plays— Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Richard III, Antony and Cleopatra, As You Like It, Taming of the Shrew, Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The slick cast of six features familiar faces, including award-winning actresses Donogh Rees and Katherine Kennard, and Jason Hodzelmans from Q Theatre's season of Titus Andronicus, along with newcomer Moana McArtney. Leading the pack are actors Grae Burton and Alistair Browning, founders of the new theatre company Shakeitup! and old hands when it comes to Shakespeare. “It’s great to get back to my Shakespeare roots. This will be a great season for everyone, featuring accessible, bite sized, sexy and fun scenes from the bard,” says Burton.
The season runs until the end of the month and features a special one-off performance at Waiheke's Cable Bay Vineyard. Grab a picnic hamper to munch on, sit back with your loved one and relish the Passionate Acts twilight show. And just in time for Valentines. How sweet.
