Overview
We all know that artworks aren't supposed to be played with, but play is what Seung Yul Oh's Rain is all about. Rain is a digital interactive art work which invites users to germinate an unpredictable kaleidoscope of objects, images, and sounds.
Faced with an empty screen save an egg shaped view of a nondescript landscape, the work is initially devoid of instruction or feedback. Through trial and error viewers discover an animated 3-dimensional world, literally catapulting a host of objects into existence. Actions produce sound and music that builds and wanes to match the audience's playful intensity. You play and the artwork plays back.
Rain is a collaborative project by Seung Yul Oh and Jeffrey Nusz currently showing at the Digital Art Live space. Audiences are invited to participate with interactive art works created by local and international artists. The interactive screen is located on Level 2 of the Aotea Centre.
