Overview
Red Bull are at it again. Over six days and nights, six New Zealand artists will showcase the creative process of their art, in a unique and specially designed, interactive pop up studio in Auckland’s Q Theatre.
Each artist will have 15 hours in the Pop Life studio to create 11 pieces of art, including a one off signature skin for a Red Bull cooler fridge and 10 canvases. The finished canvases of each artist will be displayed in the Pop Life gallery through the week, available for sale to the public on the final exhibition night, Saturday November 24th. The coolers will be placed into six iconic bar venues around New Zealand.
The street frontage of Q Theatre will be transformed into a large public viewing portal incorporating digital screens displaying social media feeds, curator comments and camera angles from inside the studio. This will not only allow curious by-passers to watch the artist’s creations taking place, but gives them the opportunity to interact with the whole project. This unique set up will give fans an up-close and personal experience with the artists, providing a rare ‘fly on the wall’ perspective during a creative process.
Images, video clips and interviws with the artists will also be published and updated online throughout the six day project. The live web stream will be available each day from 6pm - 9pm.
All the artist’s final pieces will be displayed and be available for sale at the Pop Life Gallery Exhibition, Q Theatre, Saturday 24 November 2012. All the proceeds from sales will be returned to the artist.
