She Claims: Art Matters
A look at female representation in creative industries.
Overview
After a successful opening to the public earlier in the year, this monthly series returns to Auckland Art Gallery from July to September.
She Claims: Art Matters is a series of talks presented by women with careers in the creative industries. It looks to inspire conversations about art, culture, and the role and representation of women in the arts today.
The lineup looks pretty impressive, with visual artist Janet Lilo, Walters Prize nominee Ruth Buchanan, curator Natasha Conland and dress and textile expert Angela Lassig.
Following New Zealand Fashion Week, the final She Claims session will see a conversation between WORLD designer Dame Denise L'Estrange-Corbet and fashion expert Angela Lassig.
With a wide and varied knowledge, all speakers have achieved big things in their lives, both creatively and beyond. This series was well received by attendees the first time round. Providing the opportunity to hear from some talented women and join in on an important conversation, this looks like an event worth making time for.
Tickets and more information available here. Tickets are $25 for Auckland Art Gallery members, and $75 for non-members.
