Hailing from Mount Roskill, Surf City have shot to fame since their formation and are now getting ready to release their third studio album and perform shows in Auckland and Wellington this weekend.

The Space Rock-Shoegaze-Indie band quickly garnered attention since forming 9 years ago. The group was picked up promptly by notable label Morr Music for US and German distribution. Music blog, Stereogum, branded Surf City as a "jangling, uptempo but melancholic form of shoegaze pop" - a subgenre of alternative rock that has seen a resurgence in recent times.

The group have just released their first single off their new album, It's A Common Life. After a rapid rise in the fame department, and more recently, a lengthy absence, Surf City will release their third album titled We Knew It Was Not Going To Be Like This in August.
