For its tenth outing, the food celebration will take over Auckland waterfront.
Overview
For its tenth year, food celebration Taste of Auckland will make the move from Western Springs Park to Queens Wharf. The change of scenery will see the festival's full lineup of restaurants, pop-up bars and producers take over the entire waterfront venue, including Shed 10, The Cloud and surrounding outdoor spaces.
Accordingly, a sustainable seafood theme has been elected for this year's four-day event (1-4 November), which will see ten popular Auckland restaurants pay homage to the ocean. Already onboard to show their prowess in the kitchen are Sid Sahrawat (Sidart, Cassia), Nick Honeyman (Paris Butter), Nobu Lee (Clooney), Kyle Street and Jordan Macdonald (Culprit, Lowbrow), Sergio Maglione (Farina), Cameron Knox (Xoong, TokTok), Dariush Lolaiy and Rebecca Smidt (Cazador), and Ben Bayly and Juan Balsani (Baduzzi).
Elsewhere at the festival, more than 120 food and drink producers will assemble for an artisanal market, 20 wineries from all over the country will be pouring the good stuff and a craft beer trail will run the length of the venue.
All that plus the usual display of live demonstrations from the country's top chefs (Nic Watt, Kira Ghidoni, Josh Barlow, Megan May, Kelly Gibney), one-on-one cooking lessons (Nobu Lee, Gareth Stewart, Dariush Lolaiy and Man Mohan Singh) and a series of evening concerts set against the harbour, including acts Tami Neilson, Hollie Smith, Barnaby Weir, Sola Rosa Sound System, Hopetoun Brown, Laughton Kora and Omega Levine.
