Overview

If you're staying in the city this coming Anniversary weekend, you're in for a treat. A giant boutique market and family-friendly festival is coming to the waterfront for two days, Sunday, January 30 and Monday, January 31.

Part of the Reactivate Tāmakai Makaurau Local Activation Fund and run by the General Collective, The Auckland Anniversary Market and Whānau Festival promises a little something different for everyone.

The usual lineup of vendors selling homewares, jewellery, gifts and more will be on offer, as well as free entertainment and activities for the whole whānau to enjoy.

If your New Year's resolution was to try something new, perhaps you want to give a lively lesson in West African drumming a go, or take a spin at making a jewellery bowl or olive dish in a clay modelling workshop. Don some headphones and join a silent disco featuring some of the city's best DJs, and catch performances of Ngā Tohu o te Taiao, a te ao Māori arts reflection on the environment and seasons.

Food trucks slinging delicious eats and drinks — including coffee — will all be on hand, so plan to make a real day of it. Entry is free, with vaccination passports required and masks strongly encouraged by organisers.
