Overview

It's been ten years since American band The Shins performed in New Zealand. As they celebrate the release of their fifth studio album Heartworms, they're set to bring their indie-rock sound back to Kiwi shores this November.

After forming in 1996, the five-piece soon became a multiple Grammy-nominated band. Their debut album Oh, Inverted World changed the indie rock world when it was released in 2001. Determined to not be a one album wonder they continued to create three more critically-acclaimed records.

Now adding to the mix with Heartworms, the indie-rock pioneers have taken their sound to a whole new level. Since the album's release in March, it has been described as "squiggly synth-pop and warm-weather soft rock", while taking influence from the Beach Boys.

Set to play Auckland's intimate Powerstation, The Shins will transport you back to the '90s for a night of musical ecstasy.
