Overview

Auckland will get a taste of 1920s New York this December as a soda counter pops up in Newmarket. To celebrate SodaStream's new range of organic mixers, The Soda Counter will see nostalgic cocktails whipped up by a Soda Jerk. The bartender in question is Barney Toy (of Ponsonby cocktail bar Clipper) who has been enlisted to create a selection of playful beverages, including a smoking kombucha tea, a gin and tonic fizz, a cola rum spider and a raspberry old fashioned lemonade.

Found inside Corner Burger at Westfield Newmarket's new rooftop dining precinct, the pop-up will be a modern take on the counters that were found on almost every New York corner in the 1920s. It will be open on Wednesday 4 and Thursday, 5 December from 12–3pm and 5.30–8.30pm.
