Overview

Situated up above and looking down over the ever-busy Britomart intersection, lies a tranquil place to escape to for a quick bite or a long lunch.

Located on level one of the Tower Building, one must seek out this blissful location unlike most places that we tend to stumble upon off the street. With architecturally designed clean lines, light wooden features and large lazy round tables you quickly lose track of your lunch hour whilst sipping on your flat white or cold pressed juice ($8). With tables small and large as well as bar tables, it is the perfect location for any situation. The large floor to ceiling windows looking out onto Britomart and further to views of the city and the harbour are magnificent even on a stormy day.

The menu's short and sweet, but still offers beautiful salads, impressive larger plates and lighter breakfast options. With fair trade, organic and locally sourced being the driving factor behind the menu, you can’t help but feel nourished by all options available. The fish special ($27) which on that particular day consisted of grilled swordfish atop a bed of summer squash, charred green beans, chickpeas, red onion and a minted yoghurt, is a light but substantial dish that was a delight to eat. Special kudos goes to the quality of the ingredients, you can almost taste the ethics.

If something lighter and quicker is more your style, on the other side of the kitchen is a whole separate cabinet array of stunning yet affordable freshly made sandwiches, salads and sweeter treats.

Sure the experience erred on the expensive side, but as a girls lunch outing it was well worth it. The vibe was cool, calm and corporate with a few on trend looking design folk dotted around the place. The staff were present and attentive and considering the large nature of the good, they ensured all our food was brought out at once, which is a pretty damn impressive feat.
