Overview

What do you get when you put two globally celebrated, era-defining artists on stage together for an in-depth chat? Well, you'll have the chance to find out, when the legendary Patti Smith joins Aussie rocker Paul Kelly for a special Sydney Writers' Festival appearance at Sydney Town Hall.

The pre-eminent pair come together on Wednesday, April 8, for a special event that sees the acclaimed lyricist and author dive deep into her backstory. With our own much-lauded wordsmith and poet Kelly as host, audiences are in for a compelling night of storytelling.

Expect to gain a glimpse into Smith's dynamic life and career, which tracks back to her emergence in the 1970s New York arts scene. As well as chatting through her groundbreaking music and awarded writing, Smith will reflect on her most recent best-selling book Year of the Monkey, and the period of solitary cross-country travels and experiences that inspired it.

General admission tickets are $55, which includes a copy of Year of the Monkey. You can then add on additional tickets for $30.
