Overview
When it comes to the eating scene, dining pavilions are the new bars and restaurants — but don't dismiss them on account of the trendy terminology. Their preferred jargon conjures images of a place patrons should want to linger and relax in, aka an idea that The Defiant Duck hopes to live up to.
With 24 beer and three wine taps, plus a selection of southern-inspired American fare, diners certainly aren't going to be rushing out of The Defiant Duck's door. And why would they at this offering from the folks at Moubment Group, otherwise known as the forces behind Gerard's Bistro, Hatch & Co. and Laruche? The beverages span craft and local brews, and much of the food is infused with the smoky tenderness that can only come from a 100-percent charcoal-powered oven and grill.
That pivotal appliance cranks out meals morning, noon and night, with charcoal buffalo wings, grilled burgers and Coca-Cola beef ribs among the highlights on the menu. Starting your meal off with truffle mac 'n' cheese croquettes, and then topping it off with a mighty duck sundae (comprised of cookie dough ice cream, marshmallows, shaved chocolate, wafer, peanut brittle and cool whip) also sounds a treat — as well as sounding like the kind of dishes you would consume in a leisurely food and drink space like this one.
And if it's specials that you're after, expect a few options depending which day of the week you drop by. Mondays are all about $5 steaks, Tuesdays you can nab a hotdog or burger for the same price, Thursdays you'll tuck into a $10 charcoal chicken and Saturdays you'll find wings for 50 cents (with a minimum of ten wings). To enjoy each cheap price, you'll need to buy a drink as well.
