The Old Seven Wine Bar
Coffee, wine and OTT cheesy jaffles — what more could you ask for?
Taking inspiration from France's iconic cafe-wine bars, The Old Seven offers the same intimate feeling and expertly selected vino as the establishments you'd find in Europe.
The small space operates from breakfast, where the menu features French-inspired eats like gin-cured salmon and smashed pea tartines and croissants.
Later in the day, the bar serves cheese and charcuterie boards, themed by cheese type or the country of source — think kangaroo salami and Coal River triple cream brie on the Aussie platter and La Mancha manchego and jamon serrano on the Spanish board.
Not keen to share? Opt for one of the six cheesy jaffles. Our pick is The d'Affy, with confit duck, fromager d'affinois, S28 fontina, red onion and cherry sauce. There's also a dessert option with banana and Nutella. Other dessert offerings include banoffee tart and three style of affogato, served with La Macelleria gelato.
As for the wine, there are over 100 options in total, along with a small selection of beers and an impressive cocktail list.
The site was formerly home to an art gallery, and much of the charm still remains, though it's been overhauled with features like restored antique furniture, a green-tiled bar and statement chandeliers to create a charming, European vibe.
