Overview
You know that bucket list of local food joints you've been meaning to check out? Now is the time to start ticking them off — and you don't even need to leave your house to do so. Some of Brisbane's most legendary venues are in the takeaway game, too, so couch-bound connoisseurs have more convenient (and delicious) options available for at-home dinners than ever before.
Don't feel like going out? Can't venture far from home, because that's a regular occurrence during the pandemic? These dishes will get delivered to your doorstep (and nobody will judge you for being in a robe all day). Here, we've covered everything from burgers to beef cheeks, with a few unexpected surprises thrown in between. Just make sure you brush the crumbs off your laptop before your next Zoom call.

Since opening the Shake Shack-style burger shop back in 2014, founder David Hales has turned his humble Noosa business into an Australian-wide favourite, with pastel-hued locations scattered along the east coast. The folks here are pretty transparent about what they do well — it’s in the name, after all.
Luckily for us, you no longer have to jostle with the usual crowds to get your hands on a Betty’s Double, with double beef, cheese, bacon and pickles, and a thick shake. Of course, you can’t go past the insane Shake Shack-esque concretes — frozen custard with decadent toppings like almond toffee, marshmallow sauce, crumbled Biscoff cookies and lemon curd.

Yes, you read that correctly — one of Brisbane’s most highly-awarded restaurants, E’cco Bistro, has blessed us with a takeaway menu of its best-selling dishes. It’s one of those pandemic pivots that suits everyone involved, especially hungry diners who can now enjoy the eatery’s wares at home.
If you are feeding a crowd, we recommend the slow-cooked lamb shoulder to share, with mint, broccolini, crushed peas and salsa verde. Or, if you’re a solo diner, go for the gorgonzola potato gnocchi. Looking to level up? Add on the fine apple tart, with mascarpone cream and calvados caramel. It’s unashamedly bougie. BYO linen napkins.

When you’re sent to represent Australia at the World’s Biggest Buffalo Wing Festival in New York, and then follow it up by being awarded the title of Brisbane’s Best Food Truck in 2018, you know you’re onto a pretty good thing. Of late, the team behind King of the Wings has decided to add to its repertoire by offering its cult-status wings via home delivery.
Ordering is easy: simply decide on your pack size (either six or 12 wings), and then choose your flavour (including American Barbecue, Chillogy or the award-winning Bee Sting). Throw in some beer-battered chips or vegetarian samosas, and you’ll be all set to enjoy those food truck vibes right in the comfort of your own living room.

With any potential Melbourne trips currently on hold, we feel particularly lucky that one of the country’s best coffee roasters has a local outpost for us to enjoy. Serving up elevated cafe food that would make even our southern cousins jealous, Industry Beans in Newstead is a 700-square-metre wonder.
To keep us caffeinated at home (and to avoid us turning to bleak instant coffee), these guys are offering both hot and cold beverages for takeaway — including its famous Bubble Cup, with cold brew coffee, soy milk and coffee-soaked tapioca pearls. Its also delivering pastries, burgers and smashed avo direct to your front door. We’d suggest stockpiling a few of the decadent peanut butter brownies, too, just in case you feel a little snack-ish mid-afternoon.

We will forever be humbled by the fact that Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers chose to grace Brisbane with Australia’s first-ever dedicated gnoccheria. And yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. We’re surprised that no one thought of it earlier, too.
For those new to the gnocchi world, we are here to provide some sage advice: you’ve got to order the People’s Choice pack. It’ll get you both the wild mushroom and truffle sauce gnocchi, and the slow-cooked beef bolognese gnocchi. Other sauce options include creamy lobster and barramundi and creamy basil pesto. And, for dessert, you can throw in a Sicilian-style ricotta cannolo or tiramisu.

For father-son duo Steve and Ben Crick, it was a trip to Germany that inspired them to create the affectionately dubbed ‘Bratmobile’ food truck. After 33 years as a butcher, Steve was able to develop a foot-long bratwurst, then go on to create perhaps Brisbane’s spiciest sausage, The Firewurst. These authentic German sausages have been a mainstay at food markets, festivals and breweries for over a decade — keep an eye on The Bratmobile’s Facebook page for its next stop.
Can’t wait that long? Order a preprepared feast for delivery instead. Dressed with sauerkraut, onion, mustard and curry tomato sauce, the bratwursts and kranskies are definite steps up from your average hot dog. Plus, you can add a soft salted German pretzel to really stir up those Oktoberfest memories (lederhosen optional).
