Overview
Saying goodbye to your pet as you leave for work in the morning has to be among life's most devastating moments. The look on their little face as you hurry to lock the door? Utterly soul-destroying. Nothing makes you feel more like a negligent puppy parent than the sound of their tiny, dejected footsteps as you walk away from the door.
But this is a happy story, we promise. Because at the end of every working week comes two whole blissful days where you get to squeeze in maximum hang-time with your furry bud. While you may have a sweet little routine down pat (park, beach, car ride, rinse and repeat), there might be some weekend occasions where you want to bring your pupper along to some two-legged celebrations.
Our friends at American Express know that you have no shame in your crazy dog-person game. Your fur baby may not share your DNA, but you love that crazy hound as if it were your own. We've put our noses to the ground and sniffed out Brisbane's best American Express-accepting, dog-loving venues. Because your pooch needs to know that he is a very, very good boy.
Got yourself in another dining situation and need some guidance? Whatever it is, we know a place. Visit The Shortlist and we'll sort you out.

Brisbane’s New Farm Park truly is the ultimate mecca for dog-lovers, and the nearby Watt restaurant is no exception. Tucked underneath the Brisbane Powerhouse, here you’ll find families and pups for as far as the eye can see. Order some grazing platters over the bar, and nab a spot on one of the communal dining tables. We’re big fans of the fried zucchini flowers and the cured meat and salumi board (preferably washed down with a bottle of chilled rosé). Expect a warm, community atmosphere at Watt — strangers will probably ask to say hi to your pup. Which is no surprise, as he’s so damn handsome.

Tempted by texts from your usual weekend brunch gang, but hesitant to ditch your pup on the couch? Combine ’em both. Darling & Co starts serving breakfast from 6.30am on weekends, meaning that you won’t have to forgo your usual Sunday morning dog-walking routine. The garden at Darling & Co happily caters for dogs, with water bowls and leash hooks readily available. Plus, word on the street is that the staff here are super crazy for doggos, so expect plenty of extra hands on deck for chin scratches and belly rubs.

Planning on a doggy date to the Milton Markets with friends and their pups this weekend? Nominate the nearby Cribb Street Social as the designated meeting point. Dogs are invited to sit alongside their owners at the tables lining the street, plus there are plenty of lush grassed areas just screaming out to be sniffed. We suggest ordering a couple of Loaded Cob Loaves for the table and letting your two-legged friends loose. While you demolish the triple-cheese stuffed bread, think of ol’ Fido and maybe give him a little snack, too.

Southside dog-lovers, rejoice. The husband-and-wife-team behind Little Black Pug Café are the proud parents of (you guessed it) two sweet pugs. This pawesome duo, Bowie and Mate, make regular appearances at the cafe (usually once or twice a week depending on their demanding nap schedules). In addition to these tiny heart-breakers, the food menu at Little Black Pug Cafe is also canine-themed. We’re talking Woofles, Pug’s Toast and the Good Boy Bowl. For the fluffster in your life, there are puppachinos and dog-friendly meatballs. It’s not uncommon for the pups to outnumber the humans at the kerbside tables, which is clearly a very ideal ratio.
