It's a simple premise. A group of comedians enter a room, film scripts in hand, and start reading. They've done zero preparation and they need to get through the whole thing in an hour — and, yes, they'll be making plenty of jokes. That's Dreamgun's Film Reads. No movie is safe, really. But when the amusing event comes to Brisbane Powerhouse for the 2020 Brisbane Comedy Festival, it's taking on two heavy hitters.

Sure, you've seen already seen the original version of The Lion King so many times that you can sing 'Hakuna Matata' in your sleep (and you've probably seen this year's photo-realistic remake, too), but hearing its screenplay get the Dreamgun treatment is certain to stand out. The same idea applies to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, so expect these funny folks to accio all the right jokes.

Dreamgun's Lion King show takes place at 4.45pm on Saturday, March 21, 2020, with the Harry Potter script reading happening at 3.45pm on Sunday, March 22, 2020. They're all-ages sessions, so the humour will be safe for younger attendees — but it'll still tickle plenty of funny bones.
