Overview

Australian cult hero Ned Kelly is no stranger to the screen and stage. Having been portrayed by both Heath Ledger and Mick Jagger, Kelly has been long depicted as one of Australia’s most infamous and heroic icons.

Viewed by many as a cold-blooded killer, and to others as a folk hero, the story of Ned Kelly is one which has captured the hearts and imaginations of people and performers alike. Now, in a new performance by Brisbane based playwrite Matthew Ryan, the Ned Kelly story is portrayed in a new light, distinctly different to that of the violent, exciting tale taught to us in school.

The show masterfully balances light and shade, as well as including quick-witted banter and iconic Australian bush humour. The action-packed, fast paced story is coherent to that expected of a bushranger tale, and focuses on the family bond and strains between Kelly and his brother.

The show premieres on the 16th of September and is running until the end of October, with some performances having already sold out.
