Having a memorable night at the movies isn't just about the film you're watching. The location, the company, the snacks — they all play a part as well. So, heading to one of Brisbane's most striking spots to see a flick with your pals and your pet pooch ranks right up there, especially when you won't have to pay a cent, too.

Gasworks Newstead is hosting a free movie night from 6.30pm on Saturday, February 26, with its film of choice screening beneath the precinct's old gasometer. And, you will want to bring your dog along with you — because Marley & Me is doing the honours.

Packing a picnic and bringing a blanket to sit on are both recommended as well. Or, you can nab a bite to eat from one of the precinct's eateries.

And, this is a silent cinema, because you'll be given headphones upon arrival. That'll let you block out the outside noise and just soak in the film.
