Want to see Albert Einstein crack his theory of relativity, or view art made from glowing bacteria? How about journeying to the dawn of mankind, contemplating the existence of aliens, or mingling with robots? No, this isn’t something out of a movie — but there is a film program on the schedule, too. You'll find all this and more at the World Science Festival when it comes to Brisbane.

For the first time ever, the world’s biggest celebration and exploration of science ventures beyond its US base, and it's bringing global thought leaders along with it. Think of the Australian outing as a "best of" package of previous New York events, as well as a showcase for local scientists and performers from around the Asia Pacific region.

Since 2008, the American festivals have collectively attracted more than 1.3 million patrons, so one thing's certain — this science spectacle is going to be big. That's the only way to tackle the topic, of course, and to take the subject out of the laboratory and into the streets.
