Overview

They're taking the hobbits to Isengard at Palace Cinemas James Street again this spring, with one movie marathon to rule them all. Round up the Fellowship, stock up on lembas bread for sustenance and hide your finest pipe-weed from the Southfarthing for another sitting of all three of Peter Jackson's beloved OG Tolkien film adaptations. The venue's September marathon proved such a hit, it's doing it all over again on Sunday, October 20 — and yes, you'll be watching the trio of Lord of the Rings movies in their extended forms.

Kicking off with The Fellowship of the Ring and ending with The Return of the King, this cave troll of a marathon clocks in at 686 minutes, starting the journey at 10am and including 20-minute breaks between each (for breakfast and second breakfast, if you will). If you make it to the final handful of endings, you can pat yourself on the back and smash a ringwraith screech at the nearest Fortitude Valley resident on your way home (note: do not actually screech at the residents).

Without a ticket, expect at least one overenthusiastic cinema staff member to make an example of you, thundering "you shall not pass!" to raucous applause. So buy a ticket, precious, for $25 (or $20 if you're a Palace movie club member).
