Words and Colour

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but how might the opposite be true?

Overview

As the old adage goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Now, this thought can be put to the test, as artists of visual media combine with wordsmiths, each to inform and inspire the other.

Words and Colour is an exhibition that showcases the work of eight artists, who share a piece of writing that has acted as a stimulus between them. Each assigned a chapter, the artist has to interpret the words, give them a subjective twist while representing the piece through the eyes of the author, either creating a battle of flair or a unison of inspiration.

The selected artists come from a variety of concentrations, including illustration, sketch artists, painters and aerosol aficionados, and some being writers themselves, from all corners of Australia.

The exhibition is supported by Lost Movements, a hub of artist promotion and creativity. Support them in their cause with a small entry fee to attend the celebration of the combined works, and by visiting the exhibition throughout it’s week-long duration. Perspective, language, vision and a merging of the three is an art in itself that you won’t want to miss out on experiencing.
