Overview

Heading down the highway to Burleigh and Byron Bay is no longer on the agenda for Brisbanites keen for a bite at Two Yolks and Finn Poke. Instead, Grey Street in South Bank is your new destination, with the pair opening two new flagship stores — both chains' first in the River City — side by side on Monday, June 3.

After announcing their respective Brisbane debuts earlier in 2024, Two Yolks and Finn Poke are now welcoming in customers in their latest digs. Jacinto Group is behind the duo — and for burger fans, this is particularly excellent news. Getta Burger said goodbye to Brisbane in 2023, as did plant-based joint Grassfed, while Ze Pickle shut its Brissie locations this year.

The Gold Coast-born Two Yolks does brekkie burgs, bacon and egg burgs, scrambled eggs on burgs, spicy chicken burgs, truffle burgs, old-school burgs, mortadella burgs and more. Given the name, eggs are clearly a prime feature of this eatery's burgers, and expect them to ooze when you take a bite.

Two Yolks boasts Charles Olalia (ex-The French Laundry, Guy Savoy) as Executive Chef Partner, but it hasn't gone upmarket with its burg offering. The vibe here is retro — see: decor decked out like a diner, with wood panels sourced from Italy and tiles from Japan — as Brisbanites can enjoy all day, hence the array of breakfast options.

Also on the morning lineup: burgers that span halloumi; sausage and cheese; bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato; and mushroom and avocado. That's where where the mortadella burg comes in, too, which is inspired by Anthony Bourdain. And, there's a croissant version of eggs benedict, plus a breakfast burrito.

Burritos are also part of the spread. Sides include cheesy truffle fries, chilli cheese tots, hash browns, hand-battered onion rings and bacon on a stick — plus chips paired with eggs, of course. As for drinks, shakes come in the holy trinity of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, as well as a boozy espresso martini version. Mimosas, bloody marys and orange spritzes feature among the cocktail range, and beers are also on offer.

As for Finn Poke, it slings bowls and tacos, as folks in Burleigh Heads, Broadbeach and Sydney can also already enjoy. The focus: an Aussie spin on poke, all while letting you build your own combinations. The Big Katuna Bowl, which pairs fresh tuna, seaweed salad, pickled ginger and homemade shoyu sauce, has already proven a highlight elsewhere.

"As a team, we're so ready for Brisbane. We've watched both Finn Poke and Two Yolks thrive even amid a challenging few years for the hospitality space, so we know we've got something special," said Jacinto Group Founder Jem Jacinto.

We wanted to bring the contrast of the two together, side by side, to give Brissie something really different."
