Overview
Tucked away on the crest of Farrant Street in Stafford Heights and slotted between the local newsagent and convenience store sits a caffeine refuge well worth retreating to.
The coffee at Haven Espresso is simply stellar. Using Costa Noosa Espresso beans and a state of the art espresso machine, highly skilled barista Nadine will whip you up a perfectly creamy cup for a mere $3 ($4 large). Sit down to enjoy with a signature cheese toasty for, wait for it, $1.50. Or go "all out" and add ham off the bone for an extra $2. They also serve delightfully wicked cakes and pastries to satisfy the sweet tooth — think decadent Oreo and Tim Tam filled brownies.
Part coffee bar and part niche art gallery, the space itself is also a treat. Clean white walls are filled with the latest from local artists (including stunning illustrations from owner Neill Hooper himself) and play host to the occasional exhibition. The eclectic mishmash of furniture emphasises the laid back, casual vibe of the venue. It makes you feel like you're playing a game of seat roulette when scanning for a spot.
Finally, to ensure patrons don't leave with even an inkling of a thought that Haven Espresso is "just your average coffee shop", Nadine and Neill also recycle all their used ground coffee produced after a hard day's work to make their own Haven Espresso Body Scrub. Frank Body eat your heart out. This stuff smells amazing, supports local and is filled with goodness for your skin.
Locals clearly love this place. It's filled with mums and bubs and their free babycinos, the young and old enjoying cakes with their cuppa and people from all walks coming in for a quality coffee in a chillaxed cafe atmosphere.
