Overview

You can be forgiven for thinking that Planted Wholefoods Co. sounds familiar. In fact, you might've even been to their previous location: a caravan moored under West End's shady trees. That's last year's news; in 2016, they've undergone quite the revamp. Gone is their meals-on-wheels setup, in favour of a permanent bricks-and-mortar home in Albion.

Of course, Planted's commitment to wholefoods — think locally sourced, as well as ethically, sustainably and organically grown — still remains in their brand new digs. Actually, a bigger space means even more healthy meal options, including a brunch and smoothie lineup, plus more of their beloved acai bowls. Yes, a little bit of change is a good thing.

The new jungle bowl, complete with greens, mango, pineapple, banana, orange and kiwi fruit, is a prime example. Add their ever-changing array of salads and baked goods, and there really is something for everyone. In the former camp, Mexican kidney beans with toasted buckwheat crisps or quinoa, broccoli and red onion will get your stomach rumbling; in the latter, look out for the gluten- and dairy-free cookies as well as pineapple and coconut upside-down almond cake. Drinks-wise, cold pressed juices remain a highlight, regardless of whatever you're munching on.
