Overview
Two Wheels and a Handlebar is not new news for the people of Milton, but perhaps a secret that needs to be shared with the rest of the city. This hidden gem serves up tasty breakfast, lunch, coffee and sweets seven days a week. The crew likes to keep things interesting with lunch menus changing daily and breakfast menus changing with the season. The best way to check out what is on offer is to check out their Facebook page or simply roll on by (pun intended).
On weekdays, commuters, workers, cyclists and passers by unite to devour a selection of pastries, simple egg and toast dishes, muesli, caffeinated beverages and fresh fruit shakes. The meals are designed to pick up and go, perfect for the morning rush. And its $5 breakfast deals make mornings easier.
On weekends, the breakfast menu expands depending on what produce is available and the chef's mood. All weekend breakfasts are priced $8-15, making your easy Sunday morning easy on your wallet. The weekend menu can include, but is not limited to, delights such as fruity French toast served with seasonal fruits and whipped cream or maple syrup ($12), or for something savoury, the 'energiser' breakfast of bacon, poached eggs, roast beans, avocado, tomato and focaccia ($15). Specials come and go and the chef isn't afraid to shake up standard breakfast fare.
As the lunch menu changes daily it is also best to check it out on Facebook or otherwise put your lunchtime fate into the hands of the kitchen and relish in its culinary genius. It is a pleasant surprise to find more finer dining options than you might expect. The chef creates deli style food inspired by French, Italian, Asian and British cuisines. To tantalise your taste buds, recent menus have included a crispy pork belly sandwich with mint pesto, rocket and haloumi ($11), a pumpkin and black pepper soup with watercress and broken spaghetti ($10), and even marinated spatchcock with celeriac puree and mix leaf salad ($12). If you're a fan of fresh produce, vintage wares and all things cycling, pedal down to Railway Terrace and experience the charm of Two Wheels and a Handlebar.
