Overview
Fancy making your own rice paper rolls near the Sandgate shore (and pretending that you're somewhere other than the northern reaches of Brisbane while you're doing so)? Popping up on Brighton Road, Viet Street Eat has you covered. Of course, that's just the beginning of their menu.
As you sit within brightly painted walls designed to evoke feelings of being far, far away — and decked out with other decorative bits and pieces to really make that sensation hit home — finding it difficult to choose from their hefty Vietnamese menu is understandable. Start by opting for something from the titular street eats selection, such as fermented vegetables, combination broken rice or one of six cabbage-filled salads. Duck pancakes drizzled with hoisin sauce are also available, but only between Thursday and Sunday.
For bigger servings, you can't go past soup and dry noodle selection, with bun bo hue with pork trotters standing out for the more adventurous. Lunch-time diners can pick from eight different bun mee, and dessert fiends should head straight to the coconut tapioca with banana or sweet mung bean goo. And when it comes to washing it all down, complete the Vietnamese taste explosion with a soursop or avocado smoothie. Just try not to book an overseas holiday while you're eating.
