Overview
Rest and recovery can be easy to overlook when most of the focus is on what your body can do. But whether you're training for a marathon, juggling a busy schedule or simply feeling the need to slow down, making time to reset can be just as valuable as keeping active.
The five experiences below take different approaches to recovery, from contrast therapy and dry floatation to forest bathing and sound therapy. They're also designed to fit into different kinds of routines, whether you have an hour before work, a weekend afternoon or simply want to carve out some dedicated time to recharge.
The Reset by Oura, Sydney CBD
If marathon weekend has you thinking about everything that goes into performing at your best, The Reset by Oura is giving recovery its own space. Taking place at OPT Arrivals Hall on Sunday, August 30, the experience invites runners, supporters and anyone interested in recovery to pause and recharge.
The event is part of Oura's broader approach to helping people understand their health and wellbeing. With more than 50 health metrics and insights across sleep, activity, stress, women's health and heart health, Oura Ring gives members a clearer picture of their everyday habits, with the Oura App bringing those insights together in one place.
Designed to feel like a welcome pause from the pace of marathon weekend, The Reset by Oura will bring together a series of sensory elements to create a more considered take on recovery. A live orchestral performance will provide the soundtrack to the experience, while atmospheric lighting will help set the scene for a moment away from the marathon-weekend buzz. You don't need to be running the Sydney Marathon to take part, either. Whether you're coming off a race, supporting someone who is, or simply curious about taking a different approach to recovery, The Reset by Oura is open to everyone. Keep in mind that spaces are limited, so be sure to register if you want to ensure you don't miss out.

Nature's Energy, Glebe and Balmain
For those who prefer their recovery with a little heat and cold, the Sunrise Bathhouse sessions at Nature's Energy offer an early-morning ritual in Glebe and Balmain. The 60-minute sessions combine bathhouse access with sauna, cold immersion and other recovery facilities, giving early risers a dedicated hour before the rest of the day kicks off.
It's designed to fit around real life, whether you're coming from an early workout, heading into the office or simply looking for a quieter way to start the morning. Sessions run between 6.30am and 9.30am, making it possible to turn a little pre-work downtime into a regular wellness ritual.
RCVRI, Sydney
Sometimes recovery means doing very little, and RCVRI's ZeroGravity dry float therapy takes that idea quite literally. Inside Australia's first ZeroGravity floatation bed, you lie on a heated supportive membrane that creates a weightless sensation without needing to get into water.
Each private 60-minute session is designed to remove some of the usual distractions, with options including calming sounds, guided meditation and coloured lighting that mimics a starry sky. It's a particularly appealing option if you're curious about traditional floatation but would rather stay dry and skip the extra prep. With studios across Sydney, including Coogee, Cronulla, Manly, Martin Place and the CBD, it's also an easy one to slot into a busy week when you need some uninterrupted downtime.
Forest Minds, Sydney and the Blue Mountains
Recovery doesn't always need to happen inside a wellness studio. Forest Minds takes its approach outdoors with guided forest bathing walks inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, inviting participants to slow their pace and pay closer attention to the natural environment.
Rather than treating the walk as a workout or focusing on how far you've travelled, the experience is centred around the senses. You'll be encouraged to notice the sounds, textures, scents and small details around you, with a guide offering gentle prompts throughout the experience.
There are several locations to choose from, including Lane Cove National Park and Cumberland State Forest, as well as locations in the Blue Mountains at Wentworth Falls and Blackheath. It's a slower approach to wellness that makes space for being present rather than getting somewhere.
Aqua Sculpt, Sydney
If traditional sound baths have you lying on a mat, Aqua Sculpt takes the experience onto the water. Its Floating Sound Bath combines calming sounds and vibrations from instruments including crystal singing bowls, gongs and chimes with the gentle movement of water.
Guests lie on purpose-built Aqua Sculpt Floating Boards, which are designed to keep you dry while supporting the body on a padded mat. The floating element adds another sensory layer to the experience, creating a setting where you can relax without needing any previous meditation or sound bath experience. It's a distinctive take on relaxation for anyone who finds it easier to unwind when their surroundings help set the pace.
Whether you're looking for a way to unwind after a big week, reset after training or simply carve out some time for yourself, there are plenty of ways to make recovery part of your routine.
In Sydney for marathon weekend? Relax, recover and rejuvenate at The Reset by Oura at OPT Arrivals Hall, Sunday August 30. Spaces are limited, so ensure you register or get in quick to avoid missing out.
