Overview
Talk to anyone who is planning (or has planned) a wedding, and they'll tell you it's akin to having a part-time job. No matter the scale of the event, decision fatigue will spike even the chillest bride- or groom-to-be's cortisol levels. Venue versus budget, guest list versus sanity, an extravaganza with your nearest and dearest — or eloping and calling it done.
For NSW couple Bianca and James, these decisions have loomed large over the three and a half years they've been engaged. The pair have found themselves asking, "How do we have the wedding we want, without having to actually plan it?"
Enter the world's least conventional wedding planner, in the joint form of Pedestrian.TV and Maltesers. To celebrate the launch of Maltesers Duos, the two brands have joined forces to conduct a nationwide search for one Australian couple to have a wedding fully organised and paid for, worth up to $60,000. More than 700 couples entered, sharing their love stories and the decisions that had them stuck — and Bianca and James are the lucky ones.
In an interview with Pedestrian.TV, the couple recounted how they first met, through James's housemate at the time, Luke. Bianca came round for a visit and, in her words, they "quickly became inseparable" — before long, she'd moved in, and "poor Luke moved out". James proposed in a hotel room after a storm cut short the Jack Johnson concert at the Sydney Opera House, where he'd planned to propose mid-song. They ran back through the rain and played the song themselves, when he got down on one knee and popped the question.
The big wedding versus elopement debate has kept them engaged ever since. Bianca wants something relaxed that "feels like us", with their twin boys there to see it. James's non-negotiables are simpler: "great food, great company, and an open bar." Between two young kids and two different ideas of what the day should look like, they'd even talked about skipping the wedding altogether.
Thankfully, Maltesers is here to save the matrimonial day. Because, just like Maltesers Duos — new dual-layered Maltesers with milk and white choc — sometimes you just need to have both. The winning prize covers the couple's clothing, hair and makeup, plus flowers, catering and venue hire, with Pedestrian.TV's production team on deck to capture the whole process and celebration. No compromise, no worries.
Bianca and James's wedding is set for later this year, with the planning rolling out across 'Pedestrian.TV's' channels in the lead-up. Maltesers Duos, in milk and white chocolate, are in stores and online now at maltesers.com.au.
