Grease Monkey

Overview

On Lonsdale Street in Braddon, based in an old mechanic's garage, is Grease Monkey. The establishment, as its name suggests, knows how to put on a gloriously greasy feast. The juicy burgers are what put Grease Monkey on the map — like the Smash Test, with two smashed patties and truffle aioli, and The Parmy, with chicken schnitzel, bacon, mozzarella sticks and napoli sauce.

Feeling a little adventurous? Opt for the Greasy Dog, with smoked pork sausage, jalapeños and liquid cheese, or the Philly Cheese Steak, served on a hoagie roll. There are vego, vegan and gluten-free options, too. 

Alternatively, if pizza is more what you're feeling, you'll find Detroit-style slices on the menu, including a lot of chorizo, pepperoni and Motor City Cheese Blend (a Detroit tradition that mixes three different types of cheese).

There's no shortage of sides either, with fried chicken, coleslaw, mash and gravy, truffle mac and cheese bites, hot wings and loaded fries being dished up. Wash it all down with a shake or cold beer on tap. It's safe to say you'll want to arrive with an appetite — and maybe with some spare napkins, too.
